My journey into yoga in Cary, NC began as a solution for back and knee pain, leading to a transformative yoga practice that reshaped my entire lifestyle and extended far beyond the mat.
I started teaching Vinyasa flow yoga in Cary NC in 2016, initially focusing on the dynamic style that brings joy through movement. The flow of energy not only lifted my spirits but also boosted my confidence.
However, life took a turn when my husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. While this could have disrupted my world, it instead deepened my inner strength. As the saying goes, “Yoga meets you where you are.” This experience introduced me to the world of adaptive and accessible yoga in Cary, marking the beginning of a new learning journey.
I discovered the profound significance of being present, as emphasized in Patanjali's Sutra ||:1:|| SAMADI PADA, where the concept of ‘NOW’ teaches the importance of embracing the present moment.
Every student I meet in my chair yoga classes and senior yoga sessions enriches my understanding. Whether it's a 70-year-old learning to sit on the floor or someone battling lung fibrosis, I witness the powerful impact of chair yoga for seniors in helping people regain balance, flexibility, and strength, regardless of age or health.
My students have shown that the benefits of yoga are real, not just a myth. Breathing techniques paired with mindful asana practices can ease stress, release stored emotional tension, and support the body’s healing process. These scientifically-backed yoga movements are especially helpful for people managing pain or chronic conditions.
My teaching journey has taken me across the world—from working with children affected by AIDS in Jaipur, India, through the NGO Faith, to leading yoga classes at North Carolina. I’ve also had the privilege to partner with You Call This Yoga and Meals on Wheels NC, expanding yoga’s reach to underserved communities.
